Opening the Gateway
Why small, consistent steps create lasting change
Hello beautiful soul,
One thing I’ve realized about myself is that anything administrative or requiring long periods of seated technical focus does not come naturally. It can feel stressful and overwhelming before I even begin.
Often, it’s not the actual habit that stops us — it’s the emotional weight of starting.
The Power of One Small Change
When I help women begin a healthier journey, I rarely want them focusing on everything at once.
Instead, I encourage them to choose one small behavioral change and commit to it consistently until it feels natural.
That’s where confidence begins.
Opening the Gateway
So I’ve learned something important:
I need a gateway.
For me, that often means simply sitting down calmly and easing into the task for 15 minutes. Once I begin, the resistance softens, my nervous system settles, and I usually realize it wasn’t nearly as overwhelming as I imagined.
I think this applies to so many areas of wellness and personal growth.
What once felt stressful slowly becomes routine.
And eventually you find yourself thinking: “How did I not do this before? This actually feels good.”
That one small, non-negotiable change becomes a gateway to another.
A Few Simple Examples
- Commit to one serving of fruit every day.
- Add one serving of vegetables every day.
- Or if the gym feels overwhelming, choose a time that works for you, plan ahead, go in for 30 minutes — and then leave.
That’s enough.
Over time, those small actions stop feeling difficult because they become part of your identity and lifestyle.
And from there, we build.
One gateway at a time.
A Gentle Reminder
You do not need to transform your entire life overnight. You simply need the willingness to begin. With strength and grace, Elise 🤍
